Symbols of Desire
A Psychological Approach to Lenormand
Symbols of Desire is a psychologically rich, symbolically layered exploration of the Lenormand system as a mirror of human longing. More than a guidebook, it reveals how spreads reflect unconscious desire, emotional resonance, and symbolic tension.
Written in a clear, reflective voice, the book bridges cartomantic practice with psychological depth—without requiring prior knowledge of psychoanalysis or esoteric systems.
Included throughout the book are original illustrations from the Victorian Lenormand, a digitally crafted oracle deck designed by the author to visually echo the
symbolic layers of each chapter.
A Work in Motion
Symbols of Desire is now under contract with Aeon Publishing (UK). This site accompanies its unfolding: a space to enter the imagery, the language, and the symbolic field from which the work emerges. The manuscript is currently under revision by the publisher. The deck is complete. And what you read here is no longer a preview — it is the work itself, already crossing into form.

Visual & Symbolic Integration
Deck and text are interwoven to offer immersive, multi-layered insights.
Symbolic Glimpses from the Victorian Lenormand
Drawn from the author’s original oracle deck, these cards are featured throughout the book to visually echo the symbolic atmosphere of each chapter. Rather than mere decoration, each image operates as a mirror — capturing subtle movements of desire, conflict, and psychic tension. Together, they form a living grammar of symbolic resonance: suggestive, intimate, and rich with interpretive possibility.

Meet The author
Brunell Grian is an esoteric practitioner and psychology graduate, currently completing an M.S. in Psychology. With over a decade of experience in symbolic systems, he merges academic depth with intuitive clarity to offer a new paradigm for reading the Lenormand.
His work bridges the language of symbols with the insights of depth psychology, creating a space where archetype, image, and unconscious resonance converge. Rather than treating cards as static answers, Brunell approaches them as dynamic expressions of desire, projection, and psychic tension — revealing hidden layers of meaning that unfold uniquely in each reading.
